Insurgents Strike at Iraq Oil Industry

It appears Iraq oil exports have been taken offline by insurgent's targeting a major pipeline. One wonders if continuing terrorist focus on oil infrastructure and high gas prices will whet Americans appetite for oil and gas drilling in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Estimate's place the amount of oil in Alaska's Arctic at enough to replace Saudi imports to the U.S. completely.

The Washington Post reports: "Due to the damage inflicted on the two pipelines, the pumping of oil to the Basra oil terminal has completely stopped," said Samir Jassim, spokesman of the state-owned Southern Oil Co. "Exports have come to halt."
