ANWR vs. CAFE

Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) lays out his pro-ANWR drilling, anti-CAFE standards position. While i support opening ANWR like most Alaskans, i don't get the anti-conservation argument. Obviously conservation might not get the whole job done, but how about a little compromise on both issues. It's a disservice when we see people on both sides of the aisle take extreme positions. Raising the CAFE a bit, and drilling in ANWR in a responsible way may do a lot to bring down prices and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Sounds like a win-win to me.
